Twisted Pinwheel Mug Rug

Have you joined the Twist Along yet? After checking out flickr and pinterest it seems this is a pattern that is sweeping across the quilting world and I love it! And I am so excited to see how many of you have joined in the Twist Along.

Today I have a mug rug I made for a Valentine Craft Swap using the twister tool.

To make this I used:
1 - 5" x 5" white square
2 - 3" x 5" rectangles red
2 - 3" x 10" rectangles red
1 - 12" x 12" backing
1 - 12" x 12" batting
2 - 2.25" x WOF for binding
Lil Twister Ruler

Sew the 2 - 3" x 5" red rectangles to the opposite sides of the 5" x 5" white square. Press seams open.

Sew the 2 - 3" x 10" red rectangles to the other 2 sides of the block. Press seams open. Your block will now be 10" square.

Follow the directions on the twister ruler package to make your twisted pinwheel.

Quilt and bind as normal. I hand quilted this with size 8 perle cotton in light pink and red.

Here's a few more pics of other Twister Pinwheel mug rugs I made.

Don't forget to post your progress on the Twist Along to the Flickr page.

  1. I'm really tempted to make one of these. They seem really popular. At first I didn't get it, but I'm warming up to them.
