Ok now that I got that out back to our reguilarly scheduled program...
This month's Designer Select series is on Sandy Gervais. Her newest line Sassy is just the latest in a long line of great fabric designs. This Fat Quarter Shop exclusive kit is a great mixture of all the wonderful colors and patterns in this line.
When I first started quilting Sandy's Nautical and Nice line was brand new. The LQS here told me that I bought over half the fabric they had of this great line. I didn't buy it all at once, it was over about 6 months...I just kept going back for more.
I grew up sailing and have always loved anything nautical. I made 2 quilts with this fabric, one for my Dad and one for my Nephew Henry James. I thought it would be fun if they had matching quilts. Sadly I forgot to take a pic of the quilt for Henry, but here's a pic of the one I made for my Dad.
Then came Frolic. I made 2 quilts from that line. These are still just quilt tops, but I plan on quilting them soon. They are for my husbands Dad and Step-Mom. I wanted to make them matching quilts to use in their basement living room.
And you know how Craizee I am for table runners. I found an adorable pattern on Moda Bake Shop and made a table runner using Awesome. It's called Petits Fours Table Runner.
As for Sassy, I plan on making a Twister Quilt for the Twist Along starting next week.
And I really want to make this adorable runner.
And as if that isn't enough she has 2 more line coming out this year...
Merry Melody, due out in July and Phenomenal Fall, due out in June.
This week I have a bunch of guest bloggers who are going to show you their projects made with Sandy's fabrics.
And what would Designer Select week be without a GIVEAWAY?!?

ReplyDeleteI do like that Sassy line. And I like twister quilts, I think they are fun. Depending on favorite colors, I would probably use the scrolls, dot or daisies as a binding.
ReplyDeleteI like the HST quilt top lots too. Is the orange strip random or do you have a plan? Would you mind telling me the size of your blocks and orange strip? I've been looking all morning for a great pattern, easy but interesting, looks great, trendy and masculine for a nephew who is graduating from college. Has to be easy traveling, but still pass his mom's inspection. I've found about 20 patterns that I'm in love with, I'm just not sure about the nephew/mom combination. Yours is at the top of the list, in blues. Thanks for the giveaway.
Well. You do know I love me some paisley print. So, the small paisley - whichever color you have the LEAST of in the top would be my choice. mmmmmm paisley....
ReplyDeleteI'm a nut for dots!! I like the black sassy dots!! How fun is that! (I really like Dots on binding!!)
ReplyDeleteI love the truffla forest, and lolly pop shoppe, and gumdrop garden. Well, I like most all of them, but if I had to choose, it would be those three. =)

ReplyDelete~Terry~
I would choose the Sassy Black Small Paisley. Thanks for a chance to win! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Links is my favorite pattern! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the black tiny dots as my binding: the small dots will be visible in the small area of a binding, and black adds such a nice frame to anything!!
ReplyDeleteI've been drooling over the"Home, Sweet Home" pattern for awhile now in the Hometown fabric by Sweetwater: I didn't know it was available as a printed pattern: I had just seen it as a quilt at Sweetwater's site.
ReplyDeleteI love Sandy Gervais too. She makes such fab designs. I love the Gumdrop Garden pattern. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteI think Ditzy Daisy in Aqua would be a sweet binding to add. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteAs for It's Sew Emma patterns, man are they just all too gorgeous. My favorite is Pinwheel Parade but that will definitely change when her new patterns are out. Bow on Top and Little Town look so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI would use the Sassy Black Large Paisley just because it makes such a statement and I love a border to make a statement. Of course keep in mind I am saying that site unseen. I might change my mind after seeing the quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pattern is the Debonnaire. It is so versatile. Thanks for such a great pattern!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say use the aqua dots for the border or one of the swirls!
ReplyDeleteI really like the Georgia Quilt Pattern the best.
ReplyDeleteThe dots or swirls would be the best for the border.
ReplyDeleteGumdrop Garden is my pick.

ReplyDeleteI would love to see how the Dotty Stripes (aqua) would look.
ReplyDeleteThe one that attracted my attention is Love Links. It would be fun to play with the lines.
ReplyDeleteI would border your quilt with Sassy Orange Dots!
ReplyDeleteIn addition to being a sucker for anything orange, I'm also a sucker for stars, so my favorite Sew Emma pattern is Debonaire!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.. Yes, Sassy Orange Dots. Something fairly simple to not outshine the twisters.
ReplyDeleteI would pick the Country Rose pattern by It's Sew Emma.
ReplyDeleteSassy dots in aqua or orange. I'm all about orange lately!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Gumdrop Garden pattern.
ReplyDeleteHow about the Sassy Black Dots?
ReplyDeleteI'm very partial to Debonnaire!
ReplyDeleteMy fav patters are Urban Grunge ... or Little Town ... no, Urban Grunge ... no, Little Town ... Can't I just choose both?
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing Sassy Black Tiny Dots in the border. I always like a bit of black somewhere. It grounds things.
ReplyDeleteHa! Funny you should ask which pattern I like best. I had my eye on Home Sweet Home on FQS the whole quilt kit while it was on sale. Then when I went to buy it, it was regular price again. Soooo, that is on top of my list. But when I looked through all of them, I found two others I like too; Country Rose and Little Town.
ReplyDeleteI think the orange dots in the line (not the small ones) would make an awesome choice! Thanks for the fun giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI am a follower. My favorite pattern is the Debonaire Quilt Pattern by Rachel Griffith, It's Sew Emma at The FQS.
ReplyDeleteFor borders: Sassy Coral Scrolls SKU# 17645-13
ReplyDeleteI also like the green and aqua. Somehow the larger scale of the scroll strikes me as a nice border. Any of the tiny dots or larger dot prints would look good as a binding. Thanks for the chance.
I like the darker colors for the border - Sassy Black Small Paisley is a good one.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that Urban Grunge would be good for a manly quilt for my hubby. Thanks for sharing! It's been great to see everything.
ReplyDeleteDef the large paisley! it's so fun!
ReplyDeleteI think Love Links would be my fav!

ReplyDeleteI think the aqua dotty stripes would make a cool border for your twister quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
The Urban Grunge pattern is my current fave - I'd love to make it!
ReplyDeleteI think a small solid border followed by a somewhat wider swirl pattern border would look very nice. These quilts can be really busy - I'll post one I made on your Twist Along page to illustrated my point - so the quieter fabrics can calm a really busy quilt. thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Debonaire pattern. I love stars in any way shape or form. thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI really like the aqua swirls for the border....so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteI have a new grandson, so the Gumdrop Garden is the pattern for me!!
ReplyDeleteI would use the coral swirls. love the color and the design. (I am a follower via RSS)
ReplyDeleteI really like the Check Me Out Sesame Street quilt. (I have two toddlers, so they would LOVE that.)
ReplyDeleteI really like stripes on my binding so I'd recommend the aqua dotty stripes. Better yet, scrappy piece your binding with all the stripes.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Sandy's fabric is fun! How about the black sassy dots or the aqua dots?
ReplyDeleteThank you and FQS for your giveaway and a chance to win. I think I'm sneeking in just in time. Been busy playing grandma lately. hehe.

I love the Among the Stars Block of the Month pattern. Gorgeous! And what a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy choice for a binding on your Twister would be Sassy Coral Swirls. I love coral so much that it was the color for my flowers at my wedding and the swirls is a nice print!
