Here's Tiffany Again...

Today my friend Tiffany from Another Pie In The Sky is back with a cute mug rug she made with the Accuquilt Go! Ribbons. When I asked her to take part in this series she jumped right in and said yes. Be sure to hop on over to her blog. You will notice that there's no follow me button on her blog, see this post for an easier way to follow blogs. And why not practice that new way to follow right there. You will never have to refresh a blog again to get everything loaded.

Today's cancer related web site is the National Cancer Institute. This site has lots of info about treatment, prevention, testing, stats and clinical trials.

Take it away Tiff...

Hello everyone! It's such a privileged to be back at Craizee Corners! For those of you who may not know me, my name is Tiffany and I blog over at Another Pie in the Sky. As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I have recently met a few twitter friends who have been affected by breast cancer. Those are the first women that I know with breast cancer and it has opened my eyes to this disease.

Sha sent me some ribbons and I decided I would attempt my first mug rug. I've heard they are addictive and quick. I agree with that later, but not so sure about the first. I did this mug rug today in a couple hours. I didn't do the "standard" mug rug with the binding. I actually sewed the pieces right sides together and turned turned them right side out. The only thing I would do differently, and still may do, is sew 1/4" around the outside (I ran out of pink thread).

I started out making 2 mug rugs as a set, but have only finished one. However, you can see the back of the 2nd one in the bottom, right photo. Can you see the difference in the two bottom photos?

Aren't those adorable? She literally made them in between phone calls yesterday! I love how quick mug rugs go together once you decide on a pattern. As a matter of fact I think I will make a few for Christmas gifts today.

Come back tomorrow for a great idea to remind you to get that mammogram and do self checks. Have you made your appointment yet?

My New Mr. Random

The time has come to giveaway 4 yards of Terrain from The Fat Quarter Shop!
Yes you heard me 4 yards!
I love how generous Kimberly has been to all my followers!
And 4 yards is a lot of fabric, and it will make an awesome quilt!

But first a story...

A few minutes ago I was sitting in the living room watching a movie with my wonderful Hubby. Since I have that dreaded apple disease, (you know the one that permanently attaches an electronic devise to your body?) my IPad was with me. Since the movie wasn't interesting me I decided to write this post. So I looked to see how many comments there were and said to my Husband "Pick a Number between 1 and 144". Usually he would want to know why (its the mathematician in him I think), for instance maybe it was something for some math equation...wait that's me were talking about? No he would never think that :)

Anyway he just thought for a second and said 137. Then I realized that I usually use Mr. Random.org but I like my Mr. Random better...hes a lot cuter and makes a better margarita than that other Random guy. Let's face it the old guy is kinda boring, just sitting there like a lump on a log. He doesnt even get excited to pick a number and getting a pic of him is more difficult than it should be. And like I said I think he's a cutie! Here's a pic of my hubby Tim with our 2 sons, Tyler and Bryan. This was taken last Christmas Eve while we were waiting for the homemade pizzas to finish cooking (that's our family tradition).

So the winner is 137 who is...Tiffany!

Tiff I have emailed you!

Here's My Friend Tiffany With Some Fandango love!

Today's guest blogger happens to be a very good friend of mine. Tiff and I met on twitter and started chatting on the phone, now I don't think I could get thru a day without chatting a bit. She blogs over at Another Pie In The Sky. I was so glad that she agreed to be a guest on my blog this week, and that she faced her fear and finally cut into this beautiful fabric :) I hope you hop on over to her blog and say hi for me!

Another Pie in the SkyHi everyone! I'm so glad to be here at Craizee Corners! I am a huge fan of Kate Spain! In fact, the first "real" fabric I bought to start building my stash was Kate Spain's Fandango. It is one of my all time favorite fabric lines. The fat quarter set has been on my shelf for 9 months. Sha said, "Hey, I'm doing Kate Spain month. Now you can use your Fandango that you've had forever." Of course I couldn't say no, what kind of friend would I be? It took me a day to stare at it trying to talk myself out of it, then it sat a day and a half on my cutting table before I finally got up the courage to start cutting up my beloved and cherished Fandango fabric.

I decided to do a disappearing 9 patch. I had never done this before and I have really enjoyed it (I'm sure the fabric had a lot to do with it, too). The cutting and block assembly went really quick. I had made a 9 patch before so I was familiar with that part. I was a bit baffled when I learned I had to cut the 9 patch blocks. I mean, it's bad enough to cut fabric, put it back together, but having to cut it again and put it together again...I find it humorous.

I have not sewn the blocks together, but it is up on my design board to be sewn together. Here is how it looks...

The disappearing 9 patch would be great for a beginner or a seasoned quilter. I love how this pattern allowed me to showcase each great fabric in this line! Also, as sad as I am to use the fabric (may have to order more) I am very happy to get to use my favorite fabric, and now I will be able to cuddle up underneath it.
Thank you Sha for having me! I appreciate you allowing me to share my Fandango quilt with you and your readers.

A big thank youi to Tiffany for showing us this great Fandango project. I am going to be bugging you until you finish this quilt, but like you said what are friends for?

Come back tomorrow for more Kate Spain love. I am going to put the borders on my Terrain quilt and then start the next Terrain quilt. Yes you heard me correct...I love this fabric so much that I am making a quilt for the guest room and a throw for the living room. I am using The Terrain Project Sheet Pattern for the throw.

And don't forget to enter the giveaway of 4 yards of your choice of Terrain from the Fat Quarter Shop!

The Friendly Quilt Along Blog Hop

Craizee CornerIt's time for another Friendly Quilt Along! Last month Carolyn of ...Just One More Stitch and Tiffany of Another Pie in The Sky and I made the Key to my Heart pattern.  If you missed the blog hop you can catch up by clicking on the blog names above and here's my quilt. I love to see how the same pattern looks so different with each fabric line. And they all look fabulous!

This time The Friendly Quilt Along is open to everyone! The pattern we will be using is Snake Charmer by Little Louise Designs, it's available in both PDF and hard copy format from The Fat Quarter Shop.

Isn't this a cute quilt? And it is so easy, I promise. It calls for 2 charm packs and some yardage, but can also be made with 8 FQs instead of the charm packs. Since it's only a crib size I plan on making it a little bigger, it's such an easy pattern that shouldn't be a problem. Although it could be a nice throw for the winter. I like to have a small quilt on my lap when at the computer and when watching tv and this is the perfect size.

On Saturday, October 8th I will be showing you a very easy way to sew the connector squares on with out pinning or drawing on the back of the small square or even just guessing where the diagonal really is. Its a fool proof way that will make this quilt go fast.

You have between now and November 12th to finish the quilt. I wanted to give those of us going to Quilt Market/Festival or Sewing Summit some time to recover before working on the quilt. On the 12th we will all post our quilts on our blogs and will have links to each others blogs too. Dont worry if you don't have a blog or don't want to hop with us, you can always send me the pics and I'll post it for you. Or you can remain anonymous and just make the quilt, it's totally up to you.

I have made a flickr page so we can show off all our great quilts too.

Tiffany at Another Pie In The Sky is working on a button for us. Speaking of that, make sure you check out her design services. If you are in the market for a new design for you blog or even just a button or signature she's the one to go to.

I hope you will join us. Last months quilt along was a lot of fun, this one promises to be also.

Key to Friendship Quilt

I hope you have enjoyed the Friendship Blog Hop this weekend. Don't you just love the quilts Tiffany and Carolyn made?

Today it's my day to show your the quilt I made with that same pattern. Originally Tiffany and I were both going to use the same FQ kit, we both had the Sweetwater Designer Select Fat Quarter kit from The Fat Quarter Shop. I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but these kits are a Fat Quarter Shop exclusive. The plan was to make use of the same fabric for the same quilt and see how different they came out. Then Carolyn joined and decided she was going to use her Pips jelly roll. That's what I remembered a jelly roll I had and we changed to format to showcase 3 different fabrics for the same pattern.

Here's my quilt. I call it Keys to Friendship.

I used Deb Strains Meadow Friends in the boy color way. I really struggled on the layout for this one. It happened to have about 16 brown strips. Being a very 'symetrical' quilter made deciding on a layout even more challenging...I know I need to loosen up, but that's another post lol. This was my first layout, but I wasn't happy with it. so I decided to make the outside and inside of each key piece match and was much happier then.

If you notice in Tiffany's and Carolyn's quilts they did more of a layout like I show above, more random. It's funny because Tiff originally had hers like mine and we both decided that it didn't work as well as the random way she ended up with. Isn't it funny how different fabric work differently?

I hope you enjoyed our Friendship blog hop! We plan on doing it again sometime and I hope you will consider joining us :)

Tomorrow I will be guest blogging at Sally's Quiting Corner, showing how I fold and organize my yardage fabric.

Blog Hop Day 2...Carolyn

Welcome to day 2 of our Friendship Blog Hop! Wasn't Tiffany's quilt great? I hope you checked it out and left her some comment love! I can not say enough how much I love this pattern. It was so easy and can be made with either jelly roll strips or fat quarters. And there's directions for both in the pattern.

Today it is Carolyn's turn to show you her awesome quilt! Carolyn's blog is ...Just One More Stitch. She used Sherbert Pips to make hers. Make sure to read her post...she will share with you how we met and why the pips are important to our friendship. She named her quilt Make New Friends. Which is a perfect name for this quilt. While you are at her blog tell her that Sha said hi!

I'm going to keep this short today, I am off to the first Saturday Sew for the Fort Worth MQG!

Come back tomorrow to see my quilt!

Blog Hop Day 1...Here's Tiffany!

Welcome to day 1 of the Friendship Blog Hop! I have been waiting for this day for 2 whole weeks, which in my world is a long time to keep a secret  :)

As I said yesterday, Tiffany from Another Pie in the Sky is up first.

Another Pie in the SkyJust a side note...Do you remember seeing this exact button yesterday? Think hard and if you need to check scroll down a bit to yesterdays post. Do you see the difference. Overnight Tiffany decided to change her blog look! She is amazing at how she can come up with a new design that quickly. If you are looking for someone to help you with your blog or even a blog button check with her...OK back to our regularly scheduled program.

I am not going to show you the whole front of the Hometown quilt Tiff made, but I will give you a hint...

You can see the whole quilt at Another Pie in The Sky. While your there please leave Tiff a comment about how awesome you think her quilt is :) and tell her Sha sent you! If you like what you see please consider following her blog too.

Come back tomorrow to see Carolyn of ...Just One More Stitch share her quilt!
