My Week

It's been a strange week, but I finally got my quilting mojo back and got quite a bit done. I can't go into all the details, but I can show you a few things. All I can tell you is that I have joined some swaps and committed to a few blog hops, as well as planning out the rest of January and February.

Here's part of a table runner I made for The Berry Patch. The colors are much brighter in person. I still need to put on the binding. This is made using my table runner pattern. I hope to have this done today.

Here's a table runner I have been working on. This is going to be part of the Quilter's With Modern Tools Valentines Blog Hop. I still have to do some applique in the center.

I also started working on my first Dresden Fan/Plate this week. Next week is Nifty Notions Cut For The Cure Ruler week. This month's ruler is the 22.5 degree wedge so you will be seeing quite a few things like this all week long.

I've also been working on Tyler's quilt this week. I just need to put on the borders and quilt and bind it. I have 1.5 weeks to get it done so I am confident he will be going back to Johns Hopkins with a nice warm quilt. He helped me design it, I am calling it Floating Squares. I will have a tutorial for it sometime this month, but I couldn't wait to show it to you!

Did I mention it was Valentines week in my house? Or I felt like it was since I got all my Valentines fabric out and started on some mug rugs, the table runner and this quilt. It's the Snake Charmer quilt pattern. There will be black in between the rows. I am going to bring this to Sit and Sew at the Berry Patch today to work on.

With all the football games on this weekend (Go GIANTS!!!) I will have plenty of time to get more done.

What did you do this week? I'd love to see it.

The Quilt in a Day (2 weeks) is Done

Yes you heard me right, the quilt in a day class I took 2 Saturdays ago is done. Last night at sit and sew I put the borders on. I am very happy with how it came out and can't wait till Christmas to give it to the special couple this is for :). When I showed it to Hubs he said "This is your best one yet!". Isn't that man wonderful? He's a keeper! Sorry the pics a little crooked, its early and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

Have you ever done a quilt in a day? This is my second one, but the first doesn't count because it was the quilt I learned at the beginning quilt class I took, so there was no way it was going to be a quilt in a day.

Whatcha doing this weekend?

This weekend I have big plans.

My daughter and her boyfriend are coming to visit and I am making sauce (or gravy to those in the know). I'm a little nervous because he is from an Italian family and you know how that goes, no one makes sauce as good as your own Italian Mama.

On Saturday I am attending 2 events at The Berry Patch Fabrics in Fort Worth, Texas. At 1:00 is Quilt Sitters. Miss Gail shares a quilting technique with us and shows us some of her wonderful quilts that she has made. I think she has made over 400 quilts so far and each one is more beautiful than the last. Then we have show and share, who doesn't love people oohing and aahhing over their quilts? This month I am bringing my Jelly Race quilt to show.

After that and a bite to eat (there's a 5 Guys, Jersey Mikes Subs and a Pizza Inn right behind the store) starts Sit and Sew. We bring out our machines and sew. Its great fun to have others around to sew with. Of course Gail is there to help us in any way she can. This week for instance I am bringing my quilt in a day quilt and will be putting borders on it. I need some help squaring up my borders, so Gail will be helping me with that. By the way I am using the blue fabric for the borders (thanks to all my followers and twitter friends for helping me decide). Honestly the main reason I'm using the blue is that is what I bought for the borders already and I would rather not have to buy any more.

The reason this weekend is going to be so exciting for me is that I am getting my new machine! I have chosen a Bernina 630 and can hardly wait to use it! I will be trading in my Bernina 210, which makes me sad, but I am sure it will find a good home very soon. If you are in North Texas and are looking for a new machine or someone to service your Bernina, remember to check out The Berry Patch. Their prices are very competitive and their service top notch!

So whatcha got planned for yourself this weekend? I'd love to know!

And don't for get to come back tomorrow for the next big announcement!

Sha :)
