Learning to Embroider

Yesterday I met Amy, whom I met on twitter for a lesson in embroidery. I remember doing some as a child, but that was a long (long) time ago. Amy was so helpful and taught me lots of stitches. The stitches I have learned so far are:
Running stitch
Back stitch
Split stitch
French knot
Lazy Daisy
Daisy Chain
Fly stitch
and a variation of the fly stitch which I am calling a vine.

So far I have made this (I am about to add butterfly's to it). Its a favorite saying of mine  that I thought I would put on the mug rug in my room so I remember it every morning. Speaking of which where do you have a mug rug? I have several placed around the house in the living room, dining room, bedroom and at the computer. That's 4 ways that my day is brightened by these cute things.

Since I am literally am embroidery beginner I would love some hints, stitch techniques and pattern inspiration from you.

Also remember to enter the 100 follower giveaway! If you had previously entered it on the way to 50 followers you will have to enter this part again! I have 3 more charm packs to giveaway.

  1. You did a great job. I have not done embroidery in a long time, I use to do it as a young girl and really enjoyed. I do counted cross stitching which I also enjoy. Anything I can do being creative is a wonderful thing.
